G - 1 OhmJiwon Ohm is a Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Fellow in the Writing and Communication Program at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She earned her Ph.D. in English at the University at Buffalo. Her dissertation explored the formation of fantasy as a genre in the market and the impact of those first books categorized within the genre, mainly J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, in the current market. With a specific focus on (neo)medievalist fantasy, her research is on the imagination, re-writing, and consumption of the past by individuals and groups to create imagined communities to build a sense of shared thoughts and belonging.

Teaching Interests:
Professor Ohm’s teaching interest is widespread, with experience teaching literature, freshman writing courses, writing in the health sciences, and technical communication. Her teaching focuses on equipping students with strong rhetorical analysis skills so that they can adapt their communication across diverse forms, genres, and needs.
