Jungah Kim

Jungah Kim is a Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Fellow at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She specializes in Victorian literature and culture, with broader interests in material culture, gender and sexuality, translation, and global nineteenth-century studies. Her first book project, Reclaiming (Lost) Rhythms in Victorian Female Narratives, examines how Victorian female characters engage with material objects to create subversive rhythms of life that challenge patriarchal norms by looking at works by Anne Brontë, Charlotte Brontë, George Eliot, and Neo-Victorian novelist Patricia Park. Her current research turns to nineteenth-century Britain and East Asia, exploring diplomatic translation, administrative reading practices, and the circulation and interpretation of literary texts across Britain and China. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in Victorian Literature and Culture, Lit: Literature Interpretation Theory, Food, Culture & Society, and Humanities.
