This current has run underneath both his critical and creative endeavors; he has presented at regional, national, and international conferences on topics as wide-ranging as reflection assignments in the college classroom, queer failure in assignment design, and the meta-textual features of Broadway musicals as well as television shows like RuPaul's Drag Race. He earned his Ph.D. in English and American Literature, with a graduate certificate in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, from Washington University in St. Louis in 2024, an M.A. in English Literature from Villanova University in 2018, and an MFA in Creative Writing, focusing on creative nonfiction and playwriting, from the University of Alabama in 2016.
