Megan N. Fontenot is a scholar of nineteenth-century British literature with specific foci on women’s writing, the Scottish Highlands, space and place, and gender expression and performance. She maintains a special interest in author Mathilde Blind and has also published on the life and works of twentieth-century author J.R.R. Tolkien. Fontenot’s current projects include a substantial revision of her doctoral dissertation; a chapter on Tolkien and imperialism for a forthcoming handbook; a literary encyclopedia entry for Mathilde Blind; and an article on space, nationality, and gender in Margaret Oliphant’s Kirsteen.
