Halcyon Lawrence works in technical communication with focus on speech intelligibility and the design of speech interactions for speech technologies. She is versed in qualitative and quantitative research methods applicable to communication studies and is currently working on research with former Brittain Fellow, Joy Robinson on toxic language use in games. She recently completed a 3-year longitudinal study with Linguist, Matt Bauer (IIT) on Merger within the Individual, which was presented at International Conference of Phonetic Sciences (ICPhS) in July 12015. She is a usability practitioner and has worked with developers to create and test user-centered websites.
