Franziska Tsufim

Franziska Tsufim (she/her) is a Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Fellow in the Writing and Communication Program at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She received her Ph.D. in English from the University of California, Irvine. 

At Georgia Tech, she teaches both First-Year Writing and Technical and Professional Communication. Some of her recent course themes include "Memoirs, Belonging, and the University," "Multifaceted Memories," and "Machines and Morality: Navigating AI Ethics in Workplace Communication." From multimodal mini memoirs to Twine video games, to traditional academic genres, students in her classes develop rhetorical flexibility by exploring and developing their voices across a variety of different modes, and rhetorical contexts. 

Dr. Tsufim’s research agenda revolves around first-year writing and teaching as research. Specifically, her current project “Fostering Help Seeking Behaviors in Historically Marginalized Student Populations by Introducing Extension Hour Logs into the Classroom" examines barriers to first-year students’ sense of belonging to the university. The project was awarded a DEI Mini Grant by the POD Network in 2023. Dr. Tsufim and her Co-PI recently completed the data collection phase of the project across ten sections of Georgia Tech's Writing Program.

Dr. Tsufim’s work has appeared or is forthcoming with Utah State University Press, The Journal of Multimodal Rhetorics, and The Journal for Research and Practice in College Teaching.
